“ The saints of Shri Ramanandi sect have a place in Punjab – Shri Pindori Dham. There has been a saint in the tradition named His Divine Grace Shri Narayan Das Ji Maharaj.
Their Sri Guru tradition is as follows,
Shri Ramanandacharya Ji → Shri Anantanandacharya Ji → Shri Krishnadas Paihari Ji → Shri Bhagwan Das Ji → Shri Narayan Das Ji.
With the power of bhajan, chanting &sadhna whatever Shri Narayan Das ji said to the suffering people on the day, it became true. Gradually the crowd of those who came to him started increasing.
Although Shri Narayan Das ji did not used any Siddhi (mystic powers), but whosoever comes to him, (with the effect of chanting the name of God), his misery gets removed.
When the crowd started increasing then his Gurudev Shri Bhagwan Das Ji said to him – Narayan Das, more crowd has started coming, all this is not good for the sadhu (monk).
Due to these miracles, there is a hindrance in the Devotional Service/ Bhakti. Now you become completely introverted, become silent and do the Bhajan/Worship in solitude…….
His Gurudev further said, Do not speak to anyone, do not hear anything, do not make any gesture, just chant the name of God. (His name Bhagwan Narayan Das became famous.)
BECOMING A MAHANTA / HEAD PRIEST
One day Sri Gurudeva appeared and said to Sri Narayandas Ji, now I wish that you should take a seat (become a 𝙈𝙖𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙩) and do good to all.
On this Shri Narayan Das ji requested if you could make our elder Gurubhai Shri Maheshdas ji sit on the asan and if he could become a Mahant and I will be in his service……
Shri Maheshdas ji said that the vaani (voice) of Gurudeva is for Shri NarayanDas Ji to become a Mahant so your grace will have to be at a place (asan) of Mahant.
Shri Narayan Das ji started weeping after hearing this and started saying – I neither did chanting nor did penance ( saints are always humble like this ), and the mahanti title to become a Mahant got hugged to me, this is the definitely a result of some past sin.
Baba Shri Maheshdas ji said please don’t worry you will continue to do bhajan like you used to do in the past, there will be no difference, There will be no hindrance in your bhajan, I will bear the burden of complete service (seva).
I will not let anyone go near you, I will sort everything before anything comes to you.
Gurudev Shri Bhagwan Das ji said – People will come inside to see you only after seeing Maheshdas ji.
Saying this Gurudeva disappeared. (Even today, there is a seat of Baba Shri Maheshdas ji outside who is seated on the place of Acharya seat, whoever comes there with any problem, then first the application is made to Baba Shri Maheshdas ji.)
Shri Narayandas ji then started getting immersed in the Bhajan/Naam of Shri Hari…
SHRI MAHESHDAS JI BREAKING THE PRIDE OF EMPEROR JAHANGIR
Once Emperor Jahangir came to Pindori.
Seeing Baba Shri Maheshdas ji, he asked – Baba! Do you do some intoxication? Baba said Yes I do the intoxication. The king said – what intoxication are you addicted to? Baba said that he does the intoxication 𝙎𝙝𝙧𝙞 𝙍𝙖𝙢 𝙉𝙖𝙖𝙢.
The emperor did not understand that statement and got puzzled, he thought, that might be some type of intoxication but he did not understood.
He said – Baba! Is today’s intoxication completed? Baba understood that the emperor wanted to see a miracle.
There used to be a dog outside there, Baba used to save a little bit of the prasad and use to give it to him to eat. That dog used to eat only Baba’s prasad, no matter how many other wonderful things someone gives, that dog does not even look at those things.
Baba said – Don’t ask about my intoxication, but this dog is sitting in front, his intoxication has not been completed.
The king said – What intoxication will this dog do? Will this dog take opium? Baba Shri Maheshdas said – Yes, yes opium will be taken by this dog. The king said – Wazir! Take out the opium from the box and feed this dog. Baba ordered the dog Go ahead eat this opium, seeing that dog ate 50 kilos of opium. The king said that the weight of this dog itself is not 20 kg, he ate 50 kg of opium. Where did so much opium go?
He asked – Baba, is this dog still not full yet? Baba said – while the tail of this dog is wagging, it should be understood that the hunger has not been completed of this dog. The king asked how much more will he eat? Baba said – 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂, 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽, 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗦 𝗜𝗦 𝗔 𝗗𝗢𝗚 𝗢𝗙 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗦𝗜𝗗𝗗𝗛𝗔𝗦.
The king lowered his crown and placed it at Baba’s lotus feet and said – Baba, my kingdom is dust in front of your fakeeri, you are the Real Badshah. In this way the pride of the emperor got broken like this.
The king said – Baba give us some service of yours.
Baba said – I am a Babaji with only a loincloth, what should be done for my service? 𝙎𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙙𝙤𝙜…….
The king said – Whatever distance this dog travels all that land will be given to the service of the saints and the cows.
That dog ran for about 𝟳𝟬,𝟬𝟬𝟬 acres.
All that land was donated to that dog……..
THIS WHOLE LEELA WAS DONE BY BABA SHRI MAHESH DAS JI TO REMOVE THE FALSE EGO OF THE EMPEROR JAHANGIR AND TO LET HIM UNDERSTAND THE POWER OF THE NAAM OF SHRI HARI.
